Troubleshoot email setup on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch

If you're unable to set up email on your device try the following.

  • Double-check your username and password are typed correctly.

  • If you added incoming and outgoing server settings, double-check you typed the names correctly. If you're not sure of the settings for your email, contact your email provider.

  • Try accessing your email from another computer or device.

  • If you're setting up an Outlook.com account and you have two-step verification turned on, see the section I sync my Outlook.com email on an iPhone in App passwords and two-step verification.
